Antique 1795 MASSACHUSETTS American MANUSCRIPT INDEX LEDGER Handwritten Book

Description

Up for sale is this great antique 1795-1807 manuscript name index ledger for deeds.  The ledger is softcover with plain stiff paper wrappers.  There is no location written in the ledger, but at the time of purchase it was identified as being from Franklin County, Massachusetts.  It was also purchased with a similar ledger (which has since been sold) which had "Deerfield" written on the inside cover in period ink.  I also looked up a few of the less common names written in the ledger on the Find a Grave website.  I was able to tie them to Franklin county or other nearby areas via either birth, death, or burial.  The ledger is overall in decent condition.  There are some splits to the spine fold including a spilt towards the top approximately 7 inches in length; however, the binding is still sound and holding.  The ledger measures approximately 16 1/2 inches by 7 inches.  It contains 2 alphabetical deed indexes which are bound together with a cumulative total of 40 leaves with handwritten content.  The ledger appears to have been hand made
.  The covers have some soiling and wear as illustrated in the photos.  The interior is toned from age but is fairly clean with just the occasional ink splotch or minor spot of soiling or grubbiness.  Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection, such as a creased corner, tiny chip or tear, etc.  Please look at all of the photos to further note the condition.
